MON Missions Rewards Distribution

The distribution of the MON Mission rewards to our community followed a 4-stage approach:

  1. Invalid Account Filtering: meant to identity bots and invalid accounts are applied;
  2. Account Qualification: qualitative criteria are then applied, to ensure that sufficient rewards reach sufficient quality users. While step 1 is an objective exclusion step, step 2 is a qualitative exclusion step.
  3. Account Ranking: then we apply the boosters to each qualified user’s Mission Points to get Ranking Points.
  4. MON assignment: ranking points are used to define the final ranking of each Mision quester and distribute $MON rewards proportionally.

Invalid Account Filtering

Several criteria were used to define whether a user is eligible to receive this season’s Mission rewards:

  • X Account Status: suspended X accounts are excluded from the rewards distribution, unless the user filled our form and linked a new valid X account to the Missions profile. Suspended accounts without a replacement account i) would not be able to connect to our claim platform and ii) would lack the data necessary to calculate Mission point multipliers.
  • Wallet Connect: users without wallets connected are excluded from the rewards distribution. A Wallet is necessary to receive $MON rewards.
  • Captcha Submission: only users that have successfully completed the captcha mission are eligible to receive rewards. This is a simple and widely recognized anti-bot measure (albeit not fully effective anymore by itself). More about how Captchas work and are implemented can be found here
  • Honeypot: another anti-bot technique we have implemented in the past months to our Mission platform. Users recognized as bots have been excluded from rewards distribution. More information about honeypot can be found here

‍

266,248 accounts were excluded due to honeypot measures.

830,179 accounts were excluded due to missing wallet connection.

1,286,130 accounts were excluded due to X account suspension.

‍

A total number of 524,902 Mission participants qualify for reward consideration passed these basic anti-bot and account sanity checks criteria.

‍

Account Qualification Criteria

We are aware that many of the most sophisticated bots are able to easily pass these initial anti-bot measures and thus this figure is still inflated by a high number of non-human participants.

Account qualification criteria are meant to obviate to two residual problems in the distribution:

  • many more sophisticated scripts are able to circumvent both honeypot and captcha barriers;
  • The starting number above 0.5 million accounts is still too high to allow for a meaningful reward distribution (a median amount worth receiving).

We resorted to the two qualitative methods at our disposal in the data set to do so:

  • X follower count
  • STEAM total played hours (if STEAM account was connected)

And proceeded to cut the total distribution by excluding accounts with less than 20 followers AND less than 10 hrs of STEAM play time.

We believe that the combination of the two criteria ensures that the least possible number of real community members with low follower count are captured in the X filter.

Note: Wallet transaction history was also considered as a qualitative method, we through noticed that most users including clearly high quality users (high STEAM and high follower count) used fresh hot wallets to connect to the Missions Dapp - following standard wallet safety measures, rendering this metric not usable for this step.

A total of 350,262 users qualify under these criteria, out of the 524,902 coming from step 1.

Summary of Qualification Criteria

An account was excluded from the distribution if any of the RED conditions below held true.

X Account Valid
Wallet Connected
Captcha Successfully Submitted
Non Honeypot Bot
More than 19 X followers
More than 10 hrs of Steam playtime
X Account Suspended
Wallet not Connected
Captcha not Submitted
Honeypot Bot
Not More than 19 X followers AND <10hrs on Steam

Account Ranking

The MON Missions platform is a social and gaming questing platform. The value distributed to each account should depend on the value brought to the platform by each account.

Such value can be derived through four metrics:

EFFORT:
‍

The number of Mission points a user accumulated, a function of the number of quests completed and the average quest complexity. This will be our primary ranking driver.
‍

REFERRALS:

‍The number of Missions users referred by each user, multiplied by the assigned Missions Points per user (200). This metric was adjusted to only count referrals from valid accounts, if a referred user ended up being an Invalid Account or not passing the Qualification Criteria the referral points were not considered in the total Mission points of the referring user. This metric is an adjustment to the primary ranking driver.

‍

REACH:

Not every social questor is equivalent, an account with a 10,000 follower X reach brings more value to the ecosystem than an account with 500 followers. This is a secondary driver and derived by applying boosters (multipliers of the Mission points) based on social following, TG account linking and Discord account linking are taken as smaller booster of Social Reach too.

‍

QUALITY:

As a gaming questing platform Social quests performed by a gamer with a social circle of fellow gamers, or Gaming (in game actions) quests performed by a gamer carry greater ecosystem value than quests carried forth by non gamer profiles. This is a third degree driver and derived by applying boosters based on STEAM hours played and IMX wallet ownership.

‍

Boosting multipliers compound to each other, as multipliers of Mission points completed, we outline below the boosters applied:

Let’s make a simplified example to understand how boosters works in calculating a users’ Ranking Points from hist Quest Points:

  • A qualified user has a total of 1000 Quest Points, has verified his IMX and Discord accounts, has connected his Steam account with a total of 25 hours players, and has 50 X followers.
  • The qualified User referred 2 users, one of which is a qualified user, the other not. A total of 400 (200X2) of his total 1000 points derive from referrals
  • The Ranking Points are calculated as: [Quest Points - Invalid Referral Points] x  [IMX Verified Booster] x [Discord Verified Booster] x [Steam Silver Social Rank Booster] x [X Bronze Social Rank booster]
  • In Numbers: Ranking Points =(1,000-200) x 1.2 x 1.2 x 1.3 x 1 = 1,497.6

The boosters, multiplied by the Mission points result in a new ranking of our 348,629 qualified accounts based on Ranking Points.

Ranking Points are what will be used for final Season 1 $MON rewards distribution.

$MON Assignment

In total 15,000,000 $MON tokens, equivalent to ~12% of total circulating supply and 1.5% of total diluted supply will be released as a reward to season 1 Mission participants. The market currently values the season 1 total reward pool at ~2.1m USD.

We believe this to be a generous reward, both in proportion to total available value and in terms of rewarding a non invasive (no comments, or #tagging requested) questing platform.

The 15,000,000 tokens were distributed proportionally to total ranking points.

So if total ranking points = 10 billion and user X = 1 million points then user X would have:

1,000,000/10,000,000,000 * 15,000,000 = 1,500 $MON assigned to user X.

Distribution Results

Some statistics for the total distribution thus obtained:

  • 350,262 total $MON recipientssome text
    • o/w 12,479 with > 1,000 X followers
    • o/w 41,726 with > 100 hours on Steam
    • o/w 27,327 with > 1,000 hours on Steam
    • o/w 8,603 with > 5,000 hours on Steam
    • o/w 320,811 with an IMX Passport account connected
    • o/w 300,287 with a Discord account connected
  • 43 avg MON per wallet
  • 108 avg MON per wallet in the top 10th percentile receivers
  • 132 avg MON per wallet in the top 5th percentile receivers

We are grateful to our Mission participants community.

We hope, within the imperfect data available to us, to have been able to allocate $MON based on the value and effort injected into the ecosystem by each of the participants.
